Festivals & Events
(There are a jillion great festivals out there, so this page will just talk about the ones you may not have heard about.)
The Ponderosa Stomp every Spring in New Orleans is a singular experience. Talk about old-school. The names you may or may not recognize, the songs you surely do. The atmosphere is love, fun, party and dancing – quintessential NOLA. The organizers are passionate about bringing these unsung heroes of American music to a new generation. You’re as likely to find a young-at-heart 65 year old dancing with her punk rock grandson as anything else, not to mention the occasional bona fide celebrity.

Music
KEXP radio in Seattle is THE best station for discovering music in all genres of rock, pop and hip-hop with a healthy dose of Pacific Northwest artists. The specialty shows cover specific genres ranging from punk to world music to R&B. They do a helluva lot to support emerging artists and indie labels and for that alone they are to be commended. It’s a community based non-profit station that offers live streaming via their website, and the obligatory podcasts. Take a listen and donate if you can.
Pandora.com is a cool place to find new music that suits your tastes and “build a station” (or a few or a bunch) with all your own customized music.
